Our Benefits

At Tengion, we understand the importance and value of competitive benefits for the health and well-being of our employees and their families. Tengion employees receive the following benefits:

Medical Coverage

Our medical coverage is a POS (point-of-service) plan that provides both in-network and out-of-network benefits. It includes your primary health care and treatment, as well as prescription drug coverage.

Dental Coverage

Our dental plan is a PPO (preferred provider organization) plan that provides you and your family both in-network and out-of-network benefits. The coverage includes preventive, basic and major restorative care, as well as orthodontia coverage for children. Dental coverage is provided at no cost to our employees and their families.

Vision Coverage

Our vision plan provides coverage for both participating and non-participating doctors. The program provides benefits for annual vision exams, lenses, frames and contacts. Laser Vision Correction is also provided at a discount off of prevailing fees. Vision Coverage is provided at no cost to our employees.

Basic and Supplemental Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

Our basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance policies cover one times your annual salary and are provided at no cost to our employees. Supplemental life insurance for you and your dependents is also available.

Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Coverage

Tengion provides both short-term and long-term disability coverage at no cost to employees.

Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts

Our flexible spending accounts provide you with the opportunity to set aside before-tax earnings to reimburse costs associated with health care and dependent care expenses.

401(k) Retirement Savings Plan

We offer a 401(k) plan that allows you to contribute the maximum dollars allowed by IRS limits of your compensation on a before-tax basis.

Vacation Days

Vacation amounts are determined based on job level and years of service with the company. Both full-time and part-time employees are eligible for vacation. In your first year of employment, your vacation time will be determined based upon the calendar month in which you were hired.

Personal Days

Full-time employees receive 2 personal days each year.

Sick Days

We recognize that employees may need days off to address their medical needs or those of their family members. Tengion provides full-time employees with 5 sick days each year and part-time employees receive sick days in a pro-rated amount.

Holidays

We observe 9 paid holidays each year and employees are provided with 1 additional day to be used as a floating holiday.

Educational Assistance

Tengion will consider providing financial assistance for education to those who wish to enroll in individual courses or participate in academic degree programs directly related to their current job, next logical position or long-term career development. We also will consider providing reimbursement for many of the expenses associated with continuing education courses, seminars and certification tests. We will reimburse the cost of tuition, registration, course/lab charges, examination fees and books for approved courses.
